Mezuzah Additional Information:

The Judaica mezuzah is an important component of the Jewish faith, as placing it in your doorway is part of fulfilling an important mitzvah. Whether you plan to hang your Judaica mezuzah on your front door only, or you intend to place it on all of your doorways, you will find a variety of Jewish mezuzahs to select from.

From a wedding glass mezuzah to something simpler, you can find a Judaica mezuzah you love -- with a hand-scribed parchment -- at Gallery Judaica.

Once you receive your Judaica mezuzah, do you know how to properly hang it in your doorway? Here are a few things to keep in mind when hanging your Judaica mezuzah, whether you are hanging a glass mezuzah or one made from any other material:

  • With the prayer facing upward, roll the parchment from left to right and make certain the word "Shaddai" is visible on the outside of the parchment
  • Place the rolled-up parchment inside the mezuzah
  • Place the parchment inside so the word "Shaddai" is behind the word "Shin"
  • Place the mezuzah with enclosed parchment on the right hand side of the door as you enter - it should be in the upper third of the door and hung diagonally so the top leans toward the house
  • Recite the mezuzah prayer and the Shahecheyanu blessing during the hanging of the Judaica mezuzah
  • See our "How to Hang a Mezuzah" link above for clear, specific instructions

Now that your Judaica mezuzah has been hung, it is customary to kiss your fingertips and to touch the mezuzah while saying "May God protect my going and coming in, now and forever," each time you enter or depart through the doorway.

If you are looking for a lovely wedding glass mezuzah and parchment for your home -- or one crafted from other materials -- visit our online mezuzah page and search through our extensive inventory. We are certain you will find the perfect Judaica mezuzah to suit your home.
